the Chain
for Anne’s 70th
When I think about Anne Waldman’s
birthday, I think of starting the
revolution, in Fort
Atkinson, or
Hong Kong, or near the cherry tree
that always blooms the first
week
into April when we head down to
Macdougal Street, and if there’s
snow in the mountains, let’s
take
some time to look at it, because
someone has to do it, and it’s not
going to be the bankers or Dick
Cheney’s corpse, and as for those—
let’s dance on them—and who’s to
stop us, near that cherry tree
in spring around the first week into
April when we make the world a
better place for something, maybe
poetry.
