I Am So Grateful

I am so grateful & happy to be alive

while so many humans are forced to kill each other to survive

I am so grateful to have been raised by a family

that wasnt so dangerously crazy

I am so grateful I am not too young

& superficially excitable

I am so grateful I am not too old

& stubbornly cynical

I am so grateful to have a place to live

a comfortable place to sleep

which I can call my own

& share with my friends

when so many people around the planet have no home

I am so grateful to have healthy food to eat

when so many have nothing & are starving

I am so grateful to have clean water to drink & to bathe

when so many humans suffer from thirst

I am so grateful to have a job

because so many Americans have no work ethic

or have no opportunity

I am so grateful to have traveled the world

& still manage to do so annually

when so many humans are in hospital beds in constant agony

I am so grateful to never have brought children into this world

& all those family problems

because who knows how soon our manic overpopulation

will cause the world's destruction?

I am so grateful to have friends that love me

when so many are alone

I am so grateful to not have a TV or a cell phone

I am so grateful to love myself & enjoy being alone

when so many people are lonely, unhappy & angry

I am so grateful to have had so many lovers over the years

who loved me unconditionally

but I am so grateful to be single right now

with no distress

because I am so grateful

that the possibilities are endless...
