GERALDINE GREEN
Moonlight leaks
Although the wind/blows terribly here/the moonlight also
leaks/between the roof planks/of this ruined house
- Izumi Shikibu, trans. Jane Hirshfield
Moonlight
leaks
between roof planks
between hands of the clock
that tick between us.
Moonlight
weaves
the hands of many children
through gaps in the ceiling.
Moon
rolls her tongue
across painted lips of silver
licks sand from the eyes of dreamers.
Moonlight
shakes
this world of winter
crumbles our lunacy
