INDRAN AMIRTHANAYAGAM
To Champions of Reconciliation
Do you know how to reconcile the lot of a man,
living in a donated tent, in a city occupied by the army,
under a government that celebrates national victory,
and liberation of unfortunate civilians trodden under
the boot of devilish rebels, and continues to keep
thousands of the freed under guard in camps,
under surveillance when they return to their cities
and villages, while some analysts in the capital write
that defeated people are suspect necessarily and
require paternal supervision and safety mechanisms
while rehabilitated in professions such as sewing?
