Endless War (Conspiracy Of Love)
because the war had raged so long as we could remember & threatened to become
endless, we vanished into the underground & joined together to mount a deep conspiracy
of love. . .we were forced to operate in secret so that the government would not round us
up & execute us for treason, a fate that would abort our plans & leave the war free to
thrive forever & ever. . .working underneath the radar with no trace of our activity
detected by any intelligence agency, we built a revolutionary army intending to
overthrow the latest in a series of warrior presidents & to institute instead a new
administration of love. . .
we knew that such an administration could never be elected since the media
would no doubt paint our chosen candidate as so weak on national defense that the
public would panic haunted by nightmares of terrorist apocalypse, blood running thick &
red thru American cities. . .therefore, we were left with no choice other than to cultivate
a battalion of love beneath the impenetrable streets, a battalion of love that would rise up
in the dead of night to seize the White House as soon as the time became ripe, as soon as
our computer hackers had broken the security codes & were capable of preventing any
warning signals from sounding to warn our opponents that they were facing a sudden
revolution. . .the time of revolution we had so long anticipated at last came & we
climbed up from the underground to invade the White House conquering it without
shedding even one drop of blood incapacitating the guards with a harmless gas that
nevertheless rendered them unconscious before they even knew we were present &
exercising such abundant silence & stealth that we captured & deposed the President in
his bedroom as he was sleeping installing the new head of state we had selected to take
his place. . .
once we had completed our bloodless revolution, we contacted the television
networks & invited them to send reporters, cameras & all the necessary technicians to
the lawn of the White House informing them that we had an important announcement to
make to the nation & the world, an announcement that we would deliver exactly at
dawn. . .over the telephone we gave no clues that could be used to anticipate what the
big news was, but the reporters, cameras & technicians nevertheless arrived at the White
House & set up to record the presentation we would make an hour before sunrise no
doubt provoked by rampant curiosity wanting to resolve the mystery we had placed
before them when we issued our cryptic invitation. . .once dawn came, the reporters
were stunned to silence since the new head of state we had chosen from among our ranks
was an absolute stranger to them, so they could not invent a spin to dictate the public
reaction when he emerged from the White House to declare that the endless war was
over & that our soldiers would immediately begin working to rebuild the countries we
had devastated, work that would serve as concrete evidence of our determination to
transfigure the course of all previous foreign policy & to establish a new world of
love. . .
