"And Jesus advanced in wisdom and stature, and in favor

During a quiet moment, Jesus

relaxed in front of Joseph's workshop,

sipping a cup of cheap wine

mixed with cool well water,

contemplating the girls of Nazareth,

hoping for a glimpse of bare ankle

as they hurried about their errands.

This was before he realized he was God.

If Jesus could convince his father

into expanding their modest business

to include the repair of chariot wheels,

they could nail down a contract

with the local Roman Garrison.

Jesus imagined the fine pair of sandals

he could purchase with the retainer.

For all of the ass the Empire made you kiss,

at least they paid with hard coin
